Description
Fallon Indian Day School was built under the Dawes Act of 1887 where the head of Native American families were alloted acres of land, and it was compulsory for their children to attend school. The Fallon Indian Day School was paid for by the US Government and contracted to I.H. Kent. Construction of this wooden school was completed in Stillwater on Sep 30, 1908 in Stillater Nevada on the Paute reservation. Walter .A. Van Voorhis was the first administrator of this school. The school only educated children up to the fourth grade and served noontime meals. This school was closed in 1943 after which the students were bused into Fallon to attend schools.
