The installation of new service may be arranged for by calling at our Busi-
ness Office, Phone 3-W.
If you wish telephone instruments moved from one location or address to
another location or address, service discontinued, changes in directory listings,
etc., call 3-W.
TELEPHONE RULES AND REGULATIONS
INSTALLATION—One month rental in advance plus service connection
charge.
Telephone bills are due and payable in advance. Service is subject to discontinuance without further notice unless bill is paid within twenty calendar
days after date of bill.
Complaints—Complaints regarding the telephone service MUST BE MADE
AT ONCE. To make such complaint, ask operator for "information."
LONG DISTANCE CALLS
On all long distance calls, Call Long Distance and give details of the ca;l
to operator answering.
The principal types of telephone service rendered by the Long Distance Operator are the Station-to-Station and Person-to-Person services. An explanation of these services and the method of placing calls under each type is pre-
sented below.
Faster service is obtained on all calls if the number of the called telephone
is given.
If you wish to have charges quoted on a Long Distance call, ask the opera-
tor to quote charges immediately after you have given the called number information.
Day, Night and Sunday Rates
Day rates for long distance telephone service are in effect from 4:30 A. M. to 6:00 P. M. except on Sundays. Attractive low rates are in effect from 6:00
P.M. to 4:30 A. M. and all day Sundays.
Explanation of IT. S. Tax
Local service and equipment-15% of the chargts.
Toll messages and report charges under 25c-15% of the total charges
for all such calls.
Toll messages and report charges 25c and over-25% of the total of char-
ges for all such calls.
Telegrams-25% of the total of charges for all such telegrams.
SUGGESTIONS AND INFORMATION FOR TELEPHONE USERS Satisfactory telephone service cannot be secured without the cooperation
of all subscribers. Therefore, we respectfully request the public to observe the following:
1. Use the directory. Call by number, not by name.
2. Answer promptly. Central cannot tell who called you after the connection has been taken down.
3. Limit party line conversations to FIVE MINUTES.
4. Do not engage operators in conversation they have calls to answer.
5. Do not allow children to use the telephone.
6. Do not "Rubber." The "Rubber-Neck" is the worst enemy of good telephone transmission.
Number Changes
Telephone equipment must at all times keep pace with the growth of the community in order to adequately meet the requirements of new and existing
customers. To accomplish this, rearrangements must sometimes be made, which necessitates changing telephone numbers.
Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated whenever such arrangements are necessary. If your telephone number appears on stationery, advertising material or on vehicles, care should be taken that it is correct at all times. Resi-
dence telephones advertised and used for business purposes automatically take a business rate.
To Recall Operator
On common battery connection, move the receiver hook SLOWLY up and down until operator answers. Fast jerky movements will not flash her supervi-
sion light. On Magneto Connections, ring two short bells—the same when you call Central.
The Ringing Signal
After placing a call listen for ringing signal. It is the ''burring" sound
heard at regular intervals. Do not abandon the call until the called party has had a reasonable time to answer.
On party lines you may at times hear a slight buzzing sound. This does not indicate your bell is out of order. Do not answer unless your bell rings.
Twisted Cords
Receiver cords badly twisted, kinked, covered with grease, or water soaked
cause many service complaints. Please cooperate in keeping them clean and straight.
Mutilated Telephones
Subscribers damaging telephones by rough usage, or so covering them
with paint, kalsomine, dirt, pencil marks and scratches, that they cannot be
re-used elsewhere without refinishing will be billed the cost of necessary repairs.
Do Not Oil Generator
Oil ruins insulation, collects dust, gums the gears. A crank that turns hard indicates line trouble, not instrument trouble.

NAMES
Listings are arranged in alphabetical order by surnames, first names and initials. In using the directory, it is well to remember that names which sound alike may be spelled in different ways; therefore, look under other pos-
sible spellings if the name you wish is not found at once.
To lessen the possibility of error, it will be helpful if you report any changes in listings as these changes occur, rather than at the closing date, because of the great amount of work necessary in preparing the directory for the printer.
