Today there's a big difference between movie theaters and live performance theaters. However, this wasn't always the case. Early film theaters, like the original Rex Theatre, would often host live performances in addition to screening films. The Fallon Theatre was built with a large stage for this reason.

As this program demonstrates, movie theaters didn’t just want to mimic stage theaters in the 1920s – in many cases they could serve as a community’s stage theater, a tradition the Fallon Theatre maintains to this day.
