After the Eagle-Standard

M. Joyce continued to write after leaving the newspaper. Most notably, she wrote two children's books titled "Peacocks and Hollyhocks: A Visit to the Farm" and "Peacocks and Hollyhocks: Lost in Town." Her friend and former coworker at the Eagle Standard, Pat Stevenson, illustrated the first book.

Several years after her marriage with Albert Alcorn ended, she married Matt McClelland. The two of them were married for 35 years until Matt's passing. Today, she still prefers to be called Mrs. McClelland. She now lives with her son in North Carolina, where she is still an active member of the community.
