Like many who love to be behind the camera, M. Joyce rarely placed herself in front of it, focusing instead on the world around her. This gives us a vibrant view of Fallon almost 40 years ago. We hope this will spark some of your own memories, whether they be from 1980 or 2019.

M. Joyce Alcorn worked as a journalist and photographer for the Fallon Eagle Standard in the late 1970s and 1980s. Her stories and photographs captured major events of the time as well as the lives of her family and friends. In 1996, she donated many of her images to the Churchill County Museum.

The Fallon Eagle Standard was a middle stage in Churchill County's newspaper history. The Eagle and the Standard started as independent papers in the first decade of the 1900s. They merged in 1958. The Lahontan Valley News appeared as a competitor in the mid-1980s and purchased the Eagle Standard by 1990.
