Description

FIVE DISTRICTS IN ONE
CONSOLITATION OF "A" and "B"
MAKING ONE ENORMOUS SCHOOL DISTRICT ,
Final action was taken yesterday by the county commissioners during their regular monthly meeting in the matter of consolidating Consolidated "A" and Consolidated "B" (Fallon) school districts. The signatures in the recent petitions were canvassed and the commissioners being satisfied that a majority of the people in both districts were in favor of the proposal the districts were declared consolidated. The name will be Consolidated "B", and will now embrace Fallon, Soda Lake, Old River, Smart
• and Wightman school districts. Arrangements for additional transportation will be proceeded with and one or two additional teachers will be employed. A part of the old High School building will probably be rented. All arrangements will be completed before the opening of the new term of school. The Consoli dated "A" people are to he congratulated on the forward step they have taken and Fallon upon its progressive attitude in allowing rural districts to share the benefits that can be had only in a larger school, such as manual training and domestic science. No one appeared at the meeting to protest the proposed action. Deputy Supt. Smith appeared to represent the petitioners.
The commissioners fixed the Oats Park school as the meeting place for the two school boards to convene and elect three of their six members to represent the new and enlarged district until the next regular school election, which will be in April, 1920. The present members for Consolidated "A" are Mrs. William Dunn, J. E. Hicks, and George Ernst, for Consolidated "B" Dr. J. L. Smith, F. B. Headley and Dave Erkid. They will meet July 13 to elect the new board.
