PRETTY NUPTuALS AT THE HARMON SCHOOL HOUSE WEDNESDAY EVENING.
The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, August 6 and the following business was transacted:
The reports of C. H. Lehners as county physician, Mark L. Wildes as sheriff and A. J .Johnson, Manager of the Telephone Company were presented and approved.
The lease of the County Court house at Stillwater was entered into for a period of three months, beginning with August 1.
Upon application Arthur Pyle was granted a leave of absence of 90 days was granted upon the agreement that lie appoint Fred T. Abbay as deputy to serve during his absence.
It was ordered that $3000 be transferred from the salary fund to the General County fund.
L. C. Weaver protested that his laird assessment was too high and it was reduced to $480.
Certain portions of land previously ommitted were ordered to be Placed upon the asessment of the ! Williams Estate.
A. E. Wilson, Trustee for Churchill County was assessed in the name and A. M. Barton and the correction was ordered to be made.
Then appeared H. W. Hobbs, for the Central Pacific Railroad Corn- pany seeking of a reduction of their assessment from $846,989.86 to $400.599. This was taken under advisement.
E. B. Cornell appeared and state-ed to the board that lie was assess-essed for personal property that he had paid taxes upon in Tular, county California. This was taken under consideration.
E. P. McLean was allowed a re! duction In his assessment on a lot in Williams Addition.
W. C. Cardinal was assessed for a lot in Wonder Townsite, which was stricken from the roll.
Mrs. J. F. Mason and Mrs. John Thom appeared for the Artemesia Club asking for a reduction in their assessment, which was refused by the board.
Lewis Steer, representing the Nev. Wonder Co. presented affidavits for assessment work done on a group of claims.
Personal property of Garfield Sur-ral was ordered stricken from the rolls as the same had already been paid.
An increase was made in the property of G. Budd Williams from $420 to $560.
C. E. Kent also had his assessment changed from $2250 to 2450
A number of exemptions were allowed under the Widow's exemption list also under the War Veterans' exemption act after the affidavits were filed therefor.
E. Griswold & Co. asked that their assessment be lowered on certain portions of land in the vicinity of Soda Lake. The matter was taken under consideration and was refused.
An engineer's license was granted to Fred Sheckler of Fallon.
Upon petition the Dixie School district was formed.
A petition by A. L. Haight of the Churchill County School Board, pertaining to school matters was filed.
It was decided by the Board to borrow money for the upkeep of roads and bridges.
Upon motion of the State Fish and Game Commission it was requested that Chas. H. Cress be appointed Game Warden for Churchill county.
