First New River School

The New River School District was established in the 1880s. The original schoolhouse for this district was located somewhere near Whitaker Lane. In an article written in the Fallon Eagle on June 6, 1958. Lem L.Allen recals, " When the New River school district was formed in the early 80's the school house was located near the Brown home, now the site of the W.W. Whitaker home. "Around 1900 a new school was built on the southwest corner of Maine Street and Williams Avenue on land donated to the district by Warren Williams.
